Deliverables

The EVARS Project focuses on social innovation in order to find smart solutions to a Europe in crisis. By drawing on the many resources that lie within the elderly generation, welfare issues can be handled in a new and different way, which will serve Europe. In this context, the EVARS Project sets out to:

- Engage four local authorities in each participating country on a voluntary basis

- Produce a European training module covering, on the one hand, senior citizens’ relations to children, young people, families, and other elderly, and on the other hand, their capacity to be volunteers as well as protecting themselves as volunteers:

- Conduct training for 40 elderly volunteers from each participating country in order to test usability

- Ensure that four local authorities in each participating country will have received coaching from the project and will have begun to see more strategically on the use of seniors as volunteers

- Produce policy recommendations including a “voluntary idea catalogue” that raises awareness and increases readiness on local levels for the positive use of elderly volunteers

- Create a European website to disseminate results and material
By the end of the project, a conference will be organised in each participating country as well as in Brussels, where the results from the project will be disseminated to relevant target groups.
